It’s a way of playing multiplayer where each player does their turn on their own time and submits a save to the next player in line (there’s a software that automates this submission process)… there’s a whole “play by cloud” league in the Civ Player League discord server

@@SirDucksLancelot I went to each game’s wiki page with the civilizations in it, and on a spreadsheet I just marked how or if they were added to each game. It took a while, especially tryna find out which of the DLCs for Civ 3 and 4 came first and second. Also, for the release of Civ 1, in the US, there was a Zulu Civ, but in Japan, it was Japan Civ instead.

@@ameer.thelion it’s online speed so games usually end after 80-90 turns in competitive multiplayer, so probably 2-3 months… The top two play by cloud players in the Civ Players League, Calcifer and Platypus, are in this lobby and they play like 30 games at once 🤯

It’s been a while since I’ve used world builder, but to see the map I think you might have to “enable” it in mods, then it should show up when you select the map in the game setup menu. As for players not savings, make sure you always save in the advanced view (I forget what it’s called), otherwise it’ll wipe out spawns/players. Hope this helps.

@@SirDucksLancelot My map I was working on was corrupted or something because I made a new one and it worked instantly but that one still wont. I deleted it and started over, lol.

Yeah in unmodded game barbs are such a big deal, I could see starting with an early warrior if not reloading for a lucky spawn. In BBG there’s a setting to tone down barbs which I usually use now and which competitive multiplayer FFAs also use. Assuming barbs aren’t a big issue, I think the best build order is usually scout-scout-settler-settler. That’s the standard build order in multiplayer and these multiplayer players are extremely good and have tested numerous builds. But again, barbs are such a pain in base game that I could see a warrior being a reliable build for that.

@@SirDucksLancelot Very true and multiplayer is a totally diff game than solo vs the AI. No way to simulate the unpredictability of human players. Against Deity AI the choice to play it "greedy" results in feast or famine results, but building 3-4 units to start out makes you safe against whatever the Barbs and a close-by aggressive Civ might hit you with.

@@SirDucksLancelot You will be behind in war tech due to focusing on faith, but the +10 from Crusade makes your horsemen, then Tagma a match for more advanced units. Add the +3 for each holy city conversion and you have the full Byzantium kit. The delay to get Astronomy, then build a Temple to make an Apostle that can add your 3rd religion perk is too big a delay. You'll be facing better walls and Musketmen, and Crossbows by that time. Feed the World or Work Ethic + Crusade. #3 pick should be Tithe to pay for all those free units. Try it in a private play test. :)

Gotta take urban planning if a holy site civ, that’s what I learned from watching multiplayer. Why god king if holy site generates faith?

@@SirDucksLancelot Because it's still a race and getting 1st/2nd Pantheon is huge. Also you get the same 1 production per turn from God King until you settle your 2nd city. Urban Planning while only having your Capitol is throwing away 1 faith/turn.

@@garycross4893 The capital benefits from urban planning like any other city. A lot of good multiplayer players say “urban planning is the best pantheon”. I still like god king when I’m not a holy site Civ, but lots of players literally never play god king. Urban planning is a big production percentage boost early in the game. Do you watch multiplayer streams?

Eh, I wanted to try something new. Crusade is equally good with any faith domination Civ, why not try something new?

@@SirDucksLancelot Basil II has special synergy with conversion + unit kills. Crusade provides the ability to dominate battles against tech civs. You want them to build nice cities for you to take, not the other way around. :)

@@garycross4893 sure, crusade is great but it’s only +5 with BBG. I don’t even remember what I took here.

@@SirDucksLancelot Thank you for the feedback. I didn't take BBG into account, so now I see. Your narrative style is A+, so I enjoy your games. I'm a Basil II fan and it's fun to win non-dom with him by just taking the best cities from each enemy and then choose any win type you want. :)
